Pops of Color Bring Flair to a LGBTQ+ Bohemian Wedding Theme

Ah, the ever-popular bohemian theme. There are so many variations of boho that it’s hard to keep track!

We’ve covered the traditional boho theme and an astrological-themed wedding with some serious boho vibes, but what about couples who want to add some brilliance to the classic muted tones that boho themes yearn for? Anything is possible, my dears!

In March of 2020, just before the world shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a group of Western New York wedding vendors came together to shoot a gorgeous styled scene at The Annex. Our “newlyweds” Amanda and Gabriella posed for all the traditional wedding photos—and Threads of Ivory, a wedding film house, even produced a video. (Check it out at the bottom of this post.)

In this shoot, you see all the classically bohemian style notes. Rustic furniture, natural-toned garb, woodsy décor and twinkle lights too. But there’s a special note of color that sets this shoot apart. Pops of rusty orange and burnt reds highlight the ivory and cream colors we traditionally see in boho themes—and it makes for the perfect late summer or early fall wedding.

In the invitation design, we incorporated a bit of geometry with the boho florals for even more of a modern twist. The delicate lines bring attention to the brides’ names and offer a slightly elevated touch.

Although almost nothing makes our hearts happier than perfectly executed wedding design, we also are over the moon about featuring a real-life same-sex LGBTQ+ couple in this shoot. While Amanda and Gabriella weren’t actually getting married for this shoot, they did get engaged shortly after! With Pride Month upon us, we know that love is love, and it’s important to us to showcase all kinds of love in all kinds of weddings. Because no matter who you love, you deserve to celebrate your special day any way you want.

Happy Pride and Happy Wedding Planning to everyone! If you’re in love with this splash-of-color boho like we are, you’re in luck. This invitation is available as a semi-custom design. It can be personalized with your own text, fonts, and ink colors. And there’s always the possibility of adding wax seals, envelope liners, and more!

If you are a member of the LGBTQ+ community and looking for wedding safe, supportive, and welcoming wedding vendors, Graphic-Poetry is a proud member of Upstate Indie Weddings (UIW), a group of inclusive WNY-based wedding vendors. We encourage locals to check out all the wonderful vendor members and their offerings! More info on upcoming UIW events and ticket sales here.
